It was good that day two was intended to be a gradual introduction to walking the Camino because the three of us had not had a great night’s sleep. Brother Ronald and Sean were able to get a few hours of sleep in the small dormitory with about six other men in it, but I, thanks in part to jet lag, got almost no sleep. Nevertheless, we were eager to begin our day. We were able to get an earlier bus to Astorga than we had originally booked. We arrived in Astorga around nine, walked around the city a little, and then had breakfast . Afterwards, we visited the magnificent cathedral, which truly was awe-inspiring. We had been very much impressed with the cathedral in Leon, but the one in Astorga surpassed it. After leaving the cathedral, we began our six-mile walk to the small town of Santa Catalina. After one hour of walking, we stopped for lunch. Our accommodations in Santa Catalina were wonderful, probably the best we shall enjoy on the Camino. Each of us had a private room, and there was a large common room with a magnificent view of the mountains. We found a restaurant that made delicious pizzas and were home in time for a relatively early bedtime.
