We left our lovely lodging in Santa Catalina at 6:45 AM after a good night’s sleep and a nice breakfast that had been prepared the night before by our host since we were leaving before the regular time for breakfast. We enjoyed fresh fruit, chorizo, cheese, and sourdough bread. The weather was excellent again: quite cool in the early morning and some cloud coverage most of the rest of the day, which made for very pleasant walking. The 10 miles to Foncebadon, our next destination, was at times rather challenging and most of it climbing toward the top of the mountain. We stopped for coffee early in the morning and arrived at our destination at 12:30. Foncebadon is a very small village, only two blocks long with four or five hostels and three bar/restaurants. We visited with several fellow pilgrims whom we had met earlier on the walk before checking in and going to our room, which was a large room with three twin beds and a bath. After a very welcomed, warm shower, we washed clothes and then went down to the restaurant for a sandwich. We continued visiting with some of our new friends, rested and relaxed, and then enjoyed delicious pizza for the second night in a row. We were again ready for bed by 10:30.
